Mary Kochevar is the owner and artist for Forest Hollow Studio. She is a life-long artist,
starting in high school when she was commissioned by the city to do an oil painting
of the old city hall which still hangs in the lobbey. Mary has been making dolls for over 25 years and has won numerous awards for her work including Best of Show and First Place ribbons for both dolls and quilts. Mary's doll making was featured in a full-page article in the News Herald newspaper in May 2002. She was also |
the feature artist of the week on Fox TV in Cleveland, Ohio in February 2001 where
she demonstrated quilt surface design. She has made over 100 commissioned
dolls. She is a regular teacher at local Cleveland studios, Artful Hands
and Sew Much Fun; and at the Lake Farmpark annual Quilt Show. She provides
private workshops to other shops, organizations and clubs. One of Mary's most popular workshops is her Oh You Beautiful Doll trunk show. Learn the stories behind her many dolls and the sparks that ignite her creativity. Understand how dolls have enriched her life and how they can do the same for you. As a teacher, Mary is acclaimed for her willingness to share information and techniques. Her creative combination of fabric, paint, polymer clay and beading have produced truely unique dolls for herself and her students. After years of encouragement, Mary has finally begun to make her doll patterns available. Each pattern is a precisely drafted original creation. To see many of Mary's dolls visit our Gallery section.
